At 7 months 1 week, Tricia weighs a whopping 9kg when weighed at the doc's today. Hope this sudden bout of fever and flu won't cause her to loose too much weight.

We did it!
Picked Racia up early from school today and brought her to get her ears pierced! Finally after such a long time, we did it today!
I had a hard time finding a shop that has 2 guns as was advised to do it at a place with 2 guns so that chances of her freaking out and refusing after the first hole was minimal.
She chose a sparkly pink stud and to my surprised, my brave girl didn't even cry at all when gun shot the stud through her ears! so brave!
Even the shop assistant was surprised that she did not cry at all. She told me it is not very painful, just a little pain.
We the piercing at 77th Street, AMK Hub and it cost us $12 with stainless steel studs! Definitely recommend as i find them very experience with piercing for young children. Thumbs up for the good service!

Disney Princess Racia Rapunzel

I submitted Racia's princess picture to Disney Junior Princess dress up contest last night and this morning, i received a notification that the picture is up!!
She looks great as Rapunzel right!
First Trial Class

Subject: First Trial Class
Tricia is 6 months 2 weeks and 6 days oldTricia attended her first baby trial class at Billionaire Kids nex Mall today!
Its the Stimulation program for 6-10months old. Duration for 1 hour and cost us $40 for this session.
I really didn't like the class and i don;t think Tricia enjoyed much too. Maybe because she is still too young. The instructor assigned to us was so inexperience. She say in a tone deaf voice and she did not know how to manage the time well.
Overall, very unsatisfactory and for the activities we did, i felt that the fee of $40 was way too expensive. We were mainly playing with toys, watching Chinese DVD, some flash cards and playing with the rainbow tent!
Worst of all, Tricia came down with stomach flu after the session. I suspect the hygiene level was not up to standard in the classroom!

She is still not too steady as she will topple off after a while. Nevertheless, this is already very good.

Racia says ..... Working with Mummy

After today's office visit, Racia said to me:" Mummy when i grow up, i want to go to the same work place as you. And i want to sit together with you and do work". So sweet right!! :)
6 month assessment and 3rd 6in1 Jab
Date : 12 Nov 2011 (Saturday)
Subject: 6 months assessment at poly
Tricia is 5 months 3 weeks 2 days old (25 weeks)
Tricia had her third 6in1 jab and 6 months assessment at the AMK polyclinic today.
She was very brave and did not cry when the needle was poked into her right thigh and when the vaccine was administered. She only cried slightly when the nurse pulled out the needle.
At this 6 months assessment, Tricia's weight: 8.375kg (whoo hoo!)
Height: 67.2cm
Head Cir: 43.8cm
She is 90%tile in weight and 70%tile for height.
Mummy is very pleased with her weight gain!
Also pleased to update that she did not get any fever from this jab.(She had fever during the 2nd jab).

Water for Tricia
Date: 18 Oct. 2011(Tuesday)
Tricia is 4 months 3 weeks and 6 days old (21 weeks 3 days old)
Since I was home today, I decided to let Tricia try some plain water.
She was quite happy when she saw her milk bottle as she proberbly thought it was milk time. And when i bring the bottle near her, she could not wait to shove the teat into her mouth.
Howeve upon tasting it, she gave a big frown and then got angry when she realised it tasted different..plain i guess!
It was really a funny sight!
Let's hope she will slowly learn to like water especially since she will be start solid in one months time!

Tricia is 19 weeks 4 days old today
Tricia finally flipped today!!
For the last couple of weeks she has been showing inclination of wanting to flip. She will cry out in fustration as she gets stuck midway through. Mostly because she do not know how to push out her hands!
Its really funny to hear her scream & cry out in fustration at each attempt!
Hubby & I were glad that we were around to witness her flipping in the morning before we had to leave for work. And it was also my first day back to work after maternity!
I reckon its time to buy another bed rail to prevent her from flipping and falling off the bed!
Well done Tricia for hitting this fabulous milestone so soon!

Fever after Jab
Tricia was running a fever this evening from her jab this morning.
She was given a 1.5ml dose of paracetomol at 12 noon with no fever.
However her temperature went up to 37.8 degrees at 6.30pm and we fed her a dose of paracetomol (2.5ml)
Its 1.12am now and she cleared of any fever.
Let's hope this continues throughout the night!

2nd 5in1 plus Rotarix at Poly
Date: 1 Oct 2011 (Saturday)
Tricia is 19 weeks today!
Today we made our 3rd trip to the AMK polyclinic for Tricia's 2nd 5in1 and last dose of rotarix.
We arrived 2 minutes before our scheduled appointment time of 8.40am and was ushered into the room by 8.42am. (pretty efficient i think!)
Tricia had her 2nd and last dose of rotarix today too. She seem to dislike the taste if the oral vaccine and gave a major cry after the administration. Perhaps it was too cold and jelly like for her liking.
Next is the 2nd dose of 5in1. She cried a little when the needle was jabbed into her left thigh n also fussed just a bit when the medication was injected into her.
Overall, it was pretty ok n she took to it quite well with no super major crying.
She did cried quite pitifully and protested (not loudly) when we were waiting outside the room after the jab.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that no fever develops.

Poo Record

Tricia is 19 weeks today
Tricia broke her own poo record this time. 8 days in a row without pooing.
Her last was on thursday last week!
She finally pooed today at 7pm in the car. Will be awaiting for her 2nd wave of poo tomorrow!

Subject: Sleeping by herself
Tricia is 17 weeks 6 days old
Tricia broke her own record today by taking 3 naps all on her own today!!
For the past four months, Tricia is super reliant on bao bao & patting to nap. And often i will have to carry her for the entire nap.
Since she started to find how yummy her fingers are, it was much easier for her to fall asleep by chewing her fingers.
Today, i actually placed Tricia on the bed when i saw that she was getting sleepy. She started to self sooth by chewing her fingers and soon fell asleep with no major fussing.
She actually slept for a total of 2 hrs at 2pm all on her own. She did wake up inbetween and fuss a bit but soon fell back asleep after a quick patting on the bean pillow which i placed on her tummy.
I think she loves to sleep on her bed and i hope this good habit continues on even after i start work!

Sleeping through the night

Subject: Sleeping through the night
Tricia is 17 weeks and 5 days old
today
Starting from last night, Tricia slept through and dropped her 2-3am feed.
This came as a pleasant surprise as I was trying to see how I can train her to drop the middle of the night feed so I can sleep better when I start work in 2 weeks time.
As usual by about 7pm she was already ready for bed. After changing her diapers and getting her into her PJs, she went to sleep promptly after her last latch with no fussing by 7.30pm.
She slept all the way through without waking and I had to wake her up to latch her at about 5am as i was feeling extreme engorgement. This happened again last night and time i woke her up at 5.45am to drink.
The weather has been really nice and cool these few nights and i wonder if it helped in her sleeping longer. Or maybe she really is ready to drop the middle of the night feed!
I am keeping my fingers cross that this continues on as this would mean better sleep for me when I start work in 2 weeks time!

At 4 months, Tricia can,
- Recognise people & faces especially Mommy, Nai Nai, Daddy & Jie Jie
- Smiles spontaneously when happy or when she sees a familiar face
- Laughs & giggles a lot
- Shout when in discomfort
- Chewing fingers for self soothing ( Favourite are first two fingers on her left hand and thumb on her right!)
- Is finally totally off mittens! (She was reliant on chewing mittens on her left hand to sleep)
- Drinks from a bottle. Her milk intake from bottle is approx 120ml every 2-3 hrs
- Able to take a couple of naps on her own up to 1 hour ( no bao bao & no patting)
- Is starting to sleep through from 7.15pm to 6 am. (more in next blog entry)
- Weighs approx 7kg
- Very good on tummy position (Still can't flip though)
- Likes to sit upright instead of lying down
- Likes to poo every 3 to 4 days ( record 4 days)
- Still not tempted by food
- And last of all loves to Bao Bao!!

Tricia is trying to flip
Date: 14 September 2011 (Wednesday)
Tricia is 16 weeks 4 days old today
Since Sunday, Tricia has been trying to flip onto her tummy. She still can't flip on her own as her hands are always stuck in the way. She gets super fustrated when this happens!
She will have to first learn to move her hands away in order to flip over successfully.
I reckon that she may be flipping these two days which is about a month faster than Jie Jie! Can't wait to witness it when it happens!

Xun's potty training part 2

Subject: Poo Training
Racia is 4 years 3 months, 4 weeks and 1 day old today.
For the longest time, we have not been successful in potty training racia to poo. She has long since been trained to go off diapers and has no problem peeing in the toilet. However when it comes to pooing, she just refused and insist on pooing in the diaper.
My mission this maternity leave was to successfully train Racia to poo in the toilet. The past week, i have been prepping her that once her pull ups runs out, we will need to poo in the toilet!
Finally today, there were no more pull up pants. I took her to the toilet and we sat there for 10 mins and nothing came out.
I read up online and decided to use a reward system as an incentive to encourage her to poo in the toilet. I drew up a chart and she earns a sticker with every successful poo in the toilet. After 5 stickers, she gets to pick out a toy (any toy) she wants and i will buy it for her.
At the 2nd try this evening, daddy sat in the toilet with her for close to 20mins, i did everything that all the online articles suggested, i gave her warm water, daddy read to her and distracted her so that she is not too tensed. In the end, she successful pooed in the toilet.. This is really a milestone achieved.
Let's hope we will be successful tomorrow again!

Tricia's 2nd Hepatitis Vaccination
Date: 25 June 2011 (Saturday)
Tricia is 5 weeks old today!
Brought Tricia for her 2nd Hepatitis Vaccination as well as 4th week check up at AMK Polyclinic this morning. Her appointment was scheduled at 9am and by 10am, we were out of the polyclinic.
Update on her weight, height and head circumference:
Weight: 3.98kg (25%)
Height: 56.1cm (25%)
Head Circumference: 38.1(25%)
We notice an error in her weight as when we last weigh her at Dr Tan's clinic, she was already 4.330kg!
Next Wednesday, back to Kinder clinic for follow up with Dr Terence Tan!

Racia is now a proud Jie Jie to baby Tricia born at 12:06pm (after a 13 hr labour!) at Mt Alvernia Hospital.

It was simple 15 minutes celebration during her snack break. I prepared a cake and some simple party bags for the children.
The children enjoy the cake and treat and I can tell that Racia enjoyed herself tremendously too!
She kept talking about her celebration when we were home in the afternoon.

Its Racia's 4th birthday today!!
We got her cake to celebrate in school. I absolutely love the new range of Princess cakes from Bengawan Solo. We ordered one of the cakes from the alphabet/letter range. We were lucky that the "R" cake features Aurora, which is Racia's favourite princess.
Cost $38plus for 1 kg - Chocolate with fresh cream.
