Day 2 - Disneyland Park Overload!
Tricia is 1 year 6 months, 2 weeks
old
Racia is 5 years 9 months and 1 day old
Temperate: 13 degrees (Windy and
Rain)
We woke up super early as our character buffet session was scheduled at 7am to 9am. Despite waking up early, we were still 30 minutes late for breakfast.
It was a wonderful breakfast at the Enchanted Garden Cafe. The girls enjoy it very much with lot of opportunity for them to take pictures with their favourite Disney characters. This morning, we saw Daisy, Pluto, Goofy and Mickey. Racia was so distracted that she could barely eat her breakfast. She kept on asking me when is the next character stopping at our table!
After breakfast, we boarded the shuttle bus and headed over to the park. It was a cold, wet and windy day. I was told that it was going to drop to 13 degrees making it one of the coldest day in December!
We made it through the main gates before it started drizzling. We had to seek shelter at the gift shop where I bought an umbrella at HK$190 to use it to shield the stroller. (The umbrella did come in handy during our 2 day tour of the park)
The first stop was a picture taken with the Gingerbread man along main street. When we were done, we headed to our first ride, the Buzz Light Year Astro Blaster at Tomorrowland! I was worried that Racia may be frightened by the dark interior and the aliens that she will have to shoot along the ride. It turned out that my fears were unfounded, she enjoyed the ride tremendously!
It starting raining quite heavily when we exited the Buzz Light year. I had scheduled both the Orbitron and Utopia while we were there but due to the rain, the park stopped the ride temporary. We quickly moved on to the castle hoping to get on one of the indoor rides at Fantasyland.
As we passing castle, we spotted Princess Belle at one corner. We headed over for a photo op for Racia. Princess Belle was really sweet and she spent such a long time talking to Racia.
She even suggested for us meet up with Princess Aurora and Snow White for photos near the front of the castle. We moved up to meet these other 2 princesses. Racia enjoyed taking pictures with them. I had wanted Tricia to also take a picture with the real size Snow White but when she saw an exact figure much bigger than her, she burst out crying. All the picture we captured after was of her crying! The staff were really nice and they all tried to pacify her by giving her stickers! She did receive lots of stickers that day!
Next, we moved on to Tomorrowland, the first we tried was the Cinderella Carousel. This is one of Racia's most favourite rides (She went on it 3x that day and I will elaborate more below!). As Tricia is very still small, she could sit on the horses and had to sit with Hb on the carriage instead. Daddy says, no riding on the horses till she is bigger.
We headed to the Fantasy Garden next as I wanted a picture with Minnie in her pavilion. It was short queue that morning and we waited no more than 15 minutes. Minnie was real sweet and she dance and prance around with Racia while I shot away. When it was Tricia's turn, she cried again when Minnie held her hands! She only calmed down when we went forward to carry her. Minnie was real nice and she even tried to pacify Tricia. And similar to the earlier crying incident, the staff started giving her more stickers! We headed over to the Pooh Bear pavilion for a picture with Pooh. Again it was a short queue and this time, we waited only 5 minutes. Tricia loved Pooh, she probably that Pooh is this huge soft toy! She actually ran forward and hugged him tight similar to how she hugs her soft toys at home!
Next, it was Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride. We didn't managed to sit close together and Hb and Tricia ended up on one of the elephants away from us. It turned out to be an ideal arrangement as I managed to get some very nice shot of them on their Dumbo Elephants! Both the girls enjoyed this ride tremendously. I guess this is one the rides in the park that is suitable for BB2.
It was already 12 noon by the time we were done with Dumbo and we headed to the Banquet Hall for lunch. We sat inside where it was nice and cool and Racia looked perfectly at home like a princess resting in her castle! Lunch was simple, we had Fish and Chips (Tricia needed to eat fish), a shanghai chicken set and a children grilled chicken wing set that comes with watermelons in the shape of mickeys. Both the girls ate well during lunch. Soon after lunch, Tricia fell asleep. I decided to stay in the Banquet Hall for Tricia to nap while Daddy brings Racia for another round of rides. While I was watching over Tricia, Racia and Daddy managed to complete the Utopia (Car ride) and Orbitron (Space shuttle ride) at Tomorrowland as well as once on the carousel before coming back to check on us. We took turns and Hb decided to sit and watch over Tricia next while I brought Racia for another round of rides. We managed to cover the Dumbo Elephant ride once more on the carousel. We headed back to the Banquet Hall and found that Tricia was still asleep. We decided to rest and break for afternoon tea and I ordered a children sushi set meal for Racia.
Tricia woke soon after and I brought her to the ladies room for a quick diaper change. I even managed to snap a few really cute pictures of her (See below) after changing her.
As we were walking out of the banquet hall, we realised that the Disney parade was starting in front of the castle, we immediately headed over. It was super crowded and we didn't get a good view as we were standing right behind the crowd.
After the parade, we headed to the "Small Small World" for a boat ride. This is one of the girls most favourite ride. There was no queue and we managed to sit on the first row and had the whole boat to ourselves. Tricia could sit by herself and she was so exited by the moving dolls! Racia asked to come back again for another ride tomorrow.
Moving on, we headed to the "Mad Hatters Tea Cups" ride. I was feeling nauseated from the spinning cups and surprisingly, both the girls took well to the ride.
It was off to the "Golden Mickey" show after that. We were lucky to be among the first few in the queue and managed to secure really good seats (4th row from the front and in the centre). Tricia got frightened mid way and was crying to be carried out. She calmed down when Mickey and Minnie came back on stage and managed to sit through the entire performance. As usually, it was a fantastic show!
It was already close to 6pm when we exited from the theatre. Next stop, dinner at the eatery right outside the Golden Mickey theatre. We ordered three portions of food (way too much), a dumpling noodle, char siew rice and a tofu set rice. By the time we finished dinner at 6.45pm, it was totally dark. We decided to head back early as Racia wanted to try the hotel pool and the fire works will only begin at 9pm (too late). On our way, we caught the Christmas Light up party at main street USA. It was a nice Christmas light procession and we saw the beautiful big Christmas tree lighted up. The party ended with foams (like snow flakes) falling all over us at the main street. We exited and hopped on the hotel shuttle and headed back. I had a quick shower while Hb changed the girls into their swim suits.
The indoor pool was totally empty (Guess it was because it was in the middle of winter). The water was heated (not super hot but not too cold) and they even provide float for children. Hb brought the girls down and we stayed in the water for 30 minutes only. After that it was back to the room to shower before we headed down to the Story Book Playroom for the bedtime story session which is complimentary for Disneyland hotel guests. The English session starts 8:30pm followed by the Mandarin session at 8.45pm. The session ended at 9pm and the girls were given Disney stickers for their participation. We headed back to room after that and it was bed time for the girls!
Tomorrow, our breakfast session is from 9am to 11am (this gives us more time to sleep in) and will continue our park tour for the 2nd day. Mummy is determine to cover the new Toy Story land and the Grizzly Gunch at this 2nd visit.
