My little baby loves her bed!

Date: 23 September 2011 (Friday)
Subject: Sleeping by herself
Tricia is 17 weeks 6 days old

Tricia broke her own record today by taking 3 naps all on her own today!!

For the past four months, Tricia is super reliant on bao bao & patting to nap. And often i will have to carry her for the entire nap.

Since she started to find how yummy her fingers are, it was much easier for her to fall asleep by chewing her fingers.

Today, i actually placed Tricia on the bed when i saw that she was getting sleepy. She started to self sooth by chewing her fingers and soon fell asleep with no major fussing.

She actually slept for a total of 2 hrs at 2pm all on her own. She did wake up inbetween and fuss a bit but soon fell back asleep after a quick patting on the bean pillow which i placed on her tummy.

I think she loves to sleep on her bed and i hope this good habit continues on even after i start work!

Date: 22 September 2011(Thursday)
Subject: Sleeping through the night
Tricia is 17 weeks and 5 days old
today

Starting from last night, Tricia slept through and dropped her 2-3am feed.

This came as a pleasant surprise as I was trying to see how I can train her to drop the middle of the night feed so I can sleep better when I start work in 2 weeks time.

As usual by about 7pm she was already ready for bed. After changing her diapers and getting her into her PJs, she went to sleep promptly after her last latch with no fussing by 7.30pm.

She slept all the way through without waking and I had to wake her up to latch her at about 5am as i was feeling extreme engorgement. This happened again last night and time i woke her up at 5.45am to drink.

The weather has been really nice and cool these few nights and i wonder if it helped in her sleeping longer. Or maybe she really is ready to drop the middle of the night feed!

I am keeping my fingers cross that this continues on as this would mean better sleep for me when I start work in 2 weeks time!

Date: 21 September 2011 (Wednesday)
Subject: Tricia turns 4 months!
Tricia is 17 weeks 4 days old today

Happy 4th month my sweetie!

At 4 months, Tricia can,
- Recognise people & faces especially Mommy, Nai Nai, Daddy & Jie Jie
- Smiles spontaneously when happy or when she sees a familiar face
- Laughs & giggles a lot
- Shout when in discomfort
- Chewing fingers for self soothing ( Favourite are first two fingers on her left hand and thumb on her right!)
- Is finally totally off mittens! (She was reliant on chewing mittens on her left hand to sleep)
- Drinks from a bottle. Her milk intake from bottle is approx 120ml every 2-3 hrs
- Able to take a couple of naps on her own up to 1 hour ( no bao bao & no patting)
- Is starting to sleep through from 7.15pm to 6 am. (more in next blog entry)
- Weighs approx 7kg
- Very good on tummy position (Still can't flip though)
- Likes to sit upright instead of lying down
- Likes to poo every 3 to 4 days ( record 4 days)
- Still not tempted by food
- And last of all loves to Bao Bao!!

Date: 14 September 2011 (Wednesday)
Tricia is 16 weeks 4 days old today

Since Sunday, Tricia has been trying to flip onto her tummy. She still can't flip on her own as her hands are always stuck in the way. She gets super fustrated when this happens!
She will have to first learn to move her hands away in order to flip over successfully.

I reckon that she may be flipping these two days which is about a month faster than Jie Jie! Can't wait to witness it when it happens!

Date: 3 July 2011 (Sunday)
Subject: Poo Training
Racia is 4 years 3 months, 4 weeks and 1 day old today.

For the longest time, we have not been successful in potty training racia to poo. She has long since been trained to go off diapers and has no problem peeing in the toilet. However when it comes to pooing, she just refused and insist on pooing in the diaper.

My mission this maternity leave was to successfully train Racia to poo in the toilet. The past week, i have been prepping her that once her pull ups runs out, we will need to poo in the toilet!

Finally today, there were no more pull up pants. I took her to the toilet and we sat there for 10 mins and nothing came out.

I read up online and decided to use a reward system as an incentive to encourage her to poo in the toilet. I drew up a chart and she earns a sticker with every successful poo in the toilet. After 5 stickers, she gets to pick out a toy (any toy) she wants and i will buy it for her.

At the 2nd try this evening, daddy sat in the toilet with her for close to 20mins, i did everything that all the online articles suggested, i gave her warm water, daddy read to her and distracted her so that she is not too tensed. In the end, she successful pooed in the toilet.. This is really a milestone achieved.

Let's hope we will be successful tomorrow again!
