Subject: Racia's 2nd Lunar Birthday
Date: 9 February 2009 ( Monday)
Racia is 1 year, 11 months and 5 days old today

Today is the 15th day of Chinese New Year, it is also Racia's Lunar Birthday.

I was worried that i will be late from work and so we decided to buy her the cake and blow the candle on Sunday.

I called Four Leaves and ordered a 24cm Strawberry Shortcake ($32). Racia was so excited with the cake and she insisted on wearing the McDonald's Birthday Party hat to take pictures. She really enjoyed when we sang the birthday song.

Daddy was ill and was on MC today, he managed to buy a steamed chicken drumstick from the chicken rice stall at the coffee shop near our place. They all waited till i came back at 7:30pm before Racia was given the drumstick. Nai Nai made a bowl of Mee Suah with 2 hard boil eggs. Racia loved the drumstick and refused the egg and mee suah!

Subject: Racia's Viral Fever
Date: 1 February 2009 (Sunday)
Racia is 1 year and 10 months, 3 weeks and 4 days old today.

We are back at KK A&E today! Its our 2nd visit in a period of 6 months (The last time we were here was when she was down with HFM). Racia had this persistent high fever and we could not managed to bring the fever down.

It all started last week when she came down with a bit of cold and cough. On Friday night, when we reached home after work, daddy spotted some serious mosquito bites on Racia's legs and elbow. Apart from a leaky nose, Racia was overall, quite alright after her afternoon nap on Saturday. She started getting a fever. I found her burning up and she appeared lethargic. I got quite worried and wondered if it was caused by the mozzie bites somehow.

She was immediately given a dose of paracetamol. Her fever shot up to 39.4 that night and we had to insert a suppository to bring it down. Her temperate hovered at 38.5 degrees through the night and she was crying and fussing.

On sunday, her fever was still not down and it shot up again to 38.9 when she was napping and this prompted us to give her another suppository. By now, we were quite worried as her fever shows no sign of receeding. I even soaked her in a tub of warm water hoping to bring her temperature down but was still unsuccessful.

At 5pm, we made the decision to bring her straight to KK A&E as I was worried that it could be a cause of dengue fever. I reported her condition to the nurses at the entrance stations, the nurse measured her temperatured and it stayed at 39. We were asked to registered and told that we will be called via the speaker shortly as we were classified as "serious" case. After a fairly short wait of about 15 minutes (nurse gave me water and a cloth and as that I can continue sponging her while we waited) , we were ushered into the examination room.

The doctor who examined Racia confirmed that it is a viral fever and that she will be given ibrufen to bring the fever down within the hour. We will have to wait for an hour and the doctor call for us to check on her again. Doctor advised that if her fever continued on till Wednesday, we will have to bring her back in for a blood test in case of secondary infection. I guess it was relief that it was not dengue!.

After the huge dosage (4ml) or ibrufen, we proceeded to wait outside. Racia fell asleep while waiting and by the time the doctor checked on her again, her temperature had came down to 38 degrees. (Doctor had mentioned that it takes 1 hr after consumption of ibrufen for the body temperature to go down by 1 degree).

We finally came home at 10 plus at night. Because of her fever, Racia had to miss our yearly CNY gathering at her Yi Por's place.

Subject: Goodbye my expressed breast milk
Date: 24 January 2009 (Saturday)

I finally threw away all my stored express breast milk today!

I have been procrastinating and saying that it is a waste to throw these precious "golden" milk away. I can also still remember the hard time i had pumping these precious milk when Racia was much younger thus my reluctance to throw them away.

However, i also know that:
1) Racia is not going given these milk to drink!
2) These milk packets has been in storage for a long time.
3) They are alsotaking up space in the fridge

And thus, my final decision to throw up all away today!

Subject: Racia's naughty corner!
Date: 18 January 2009 (Sunday)
Racia is 1 year, 10 months, 2 weeks old today

Finally put Racia her her "Naughty Corner" today!! its the wall next to my kitchen entrance.

She was so unreasonable during dinner that i had to park her in her high chair at her new naughty corner for 2 minutes!! (She refused her food and kept on fussing non stop till iI lost patience!)
And as expected, she cried non stop for that whole 2 minutes!

Let's hope that I don't have to use this naughty corner again/soon!

Subject: Racia's Personal slide
Date: 14 January 2008 (Wednesday)
Racia is 1 year, 10 months, 1 week and 2 days old today

We bought Racia a slide from Toys R Us today!

We have been thinking of getting her a slide this past week as i found that she really likes to go on one. On the many trips to the playground, she refused to leave even when its time to go home. And all she wanted was to have another go at the slide.

At home, she has taken to sliding down daddy's legs whenever Daddy is available. Daddy is complaining that his knees are aching from all these sliding. So I guess its time we got her a slide.
We fixed the slide at 8:30pm when we got home this evening and she refused to go to bed till 9:30pm! She only reluctantly went to bed when i switched off all the lights in the house!

Subject: 22 months and eating meat!
Date: 1 April 2009
Racia is 1 Year 10 months old today.

Racia is 22 months old today!.

She is speaking a lot more and lately she loves to sing and dance..even though i still can't really understand what she is singing.

Today she finally started eating meat herself. Actually it all started at when i brought her to GogoBambini on a play date with her March baby friends last Wednesday. Yin Ern offered her a piece of chicken nugget and i was expecting thats she will reject it after one bite. However i was wrong. She actually loved it and finished one whole piece by herself. That day marked the day that she started nuggets.

Tonight for dinner, i cut up some chicken breast (from the soup) and place it on abowl next to her. she fork up one piece, ate it and then shoke her head saying "No" when daddy asked her to take another piece. However, half way through dinner, she actually took her fork and pierced another piece of chicken meat and ate it. By the end of dinner, she finished all the chicken meat, half of her rice as well as her fish. I was so proud. My baby has started eating meat.

However i also noticed that her dark eye circle has came back, and i wonder if this is a sign that her body is not digesting the meat well. I will need to do some research and read up more on this.
