Daddy bought Racia a new walker today. Little Tikes Shop and Grow Walker

Racia's current pre-loved walker handed down from Da Gu was spoilt. The handle could not stay upright and it pose a danger whenever Racia tries to hold on and walk.

Highly recommended by Mummy's forum friends, Daddy and Mummy bought this walker at Toys R Us Vivo priced at $49.90 (expensive!).

Milestone????: Chewing on Hair Clip!!
Date: 27 March 2008 - Thursday
Racia is 1 years, 3 weeks and 3 days old today

Racia was caught chewing on a hair clip today!!! Mummy had a near heart attacked when she saw the hair clip in Racia's mouth!

Actually, it was totally mummy's fault for allowing Racia to play with the hair clips while mummy was taking a shower. When mummy came out from the bathroom, she found Racia sitting really quietly on the bed with her back to mummy. Mummy walked up to Racia and found her mouth shut and cheeks puffed and she looked really guilty. At that moment, mummy knew that there was something in Racia's mouth. Mummy was in shocked, she dare not scold Racia for the fear that she would swallow what ever that she has in her mouth. Mummy stared really hard and stern at Racia. Racia sensing that she has done something wrong began crying, it was then that mummy saw the crochet metal hair clip in Racia's mouth. Mummy dig the clip out and Racia got a stern scolding!

No more playing with hair clips from this moment on!

Mummy went to the Singapore Post Centre today to redeem the Little Tike's toys under a promotion by Huggies Ultra diapers .

Mummies had a total of 6 bar codes for redemption.
She redeemed the following:

1) Glow Pals - Crab - 2 bar codes
2) Little Fisher - 4 barcodes

The toys are really cute and of very good quality.

Subject: New Traing Cup
Description: Dr Brown Training Cup
Date: 23 March 08 - Sunday

With plans to wean Racia off the breast, Mummy bought Racia a new training cup after recommendations from fellow March Mummy - Joelle. Actually this is not Racia's first training cup. Prior to this, Mummy has already bought Racia a Pigeon stage 4 drinking mug, combi stage 4 drinking mug as well as a pigeon sprout cup. Racia was not keen at all to drink milk from these cups.

Mummy thinks that Racia might not be rejecting the cups but instead, she is rejecting the formula milk that mummy has been trying to feed her via these cups.

Racia will start this cup with water and juice tomorrow. And hopefully, mummy can slowly proceed to introducing FM to Racia using this cup.

New teeths erupting on Racia's upper gums.

No wonder she has been chewing everything with sharp edges that she can get her hands on; the tails of her toy tempura prawns from her kitchen play set, her glow-in-the-dark dolphin, mini mentos sweets in packing, mummy's pens, her wash hankie, the panels of her play yard and not forgetting her fingers which are always wet and yucky nowadays!!

Milestone: New Food - Egg White
Date: 22 March 2008 - Saturday
Racia is 1 years, 2 weeks and 4 days old today

Mummy started giving Racia hard boiled egg yolk in December last year when Racia was about 10 months old. Since Racia has now turned 1, Mummy thinks that its time she introduced egg white to Racia. Egg whites is not recommended to give to babies before the age of 1 to minimize the possibility of developing an allergy to eggs.

On Wednesday this week, Mummy prepared a hard boiled egg for Racia. Mummy took about 1/2 teaspoon quantity of hard boiled egg white and gave it to Racia during lunch. Racia could see Racia munching and chewing away when she was given a small piece of the white.
That night, when mummy was giving Racia her nightly bath, mummy found rashes all over Racia's back. It seems like her body was reacting to the whites that she has taken earlier that day. In fact, Racia seems to be very prone to rashes whenever a new food item is introduced to her diet.

Today, Mummy gave Racia egg whites again. Becase of her rash reaction on Wednesday, mummy reduced the quantity of egg whites given today, to 1/4 teaspoon (half of the amount introduced the last time). As usually, Racia was munching away. During the nightly bath, Mummy was glad to find out that Racia did not develop any rash this round.

Next, Mummy will increase the white quantity back to half a teaspoon and to reconfirm that Racia has no allergic reaction to egg whites.

Racia is 1 year, 1 week and 5 days old today

Racia received her first Certificate of Participation from Kindermusik today.

Milestone: My First Bank Account
Date: 15 March 2008 - Saturday
Racia is 1 year, 1 week and 4 days old today

Daddy helped Racia opened her first bank account today - The Mighty Savers Account with OCBC. We opened the account at the OCBC branch along Upper Serangoon Road.

Daddy took all the ang pows collected during Chinese New Year as well as the ang pows that Racia received during her 1st birthday celebration as the initial deposit for her account.

Racia was also given a gift pack consisting of a photo album, wrist band as well as a set of Mighty Savers sticker and reward card.

With this first bank account, Daddy and Mummy hopes that Racia will be prudent saver in future.

Racia's New LIttleTouch LeapPad Books

Description: Fisher Price Pull Along Phone.

Mummy bought and collected a pre-loved Fisher Price Pull Along Toy Telephone for Racia from Mummy's forum friend Irin yesterday.

This phone is very interesting because it has this flap card feature showing a series of animals for the child to flip. As Racia loves to flip her story books, mummy thought this is perfect for her. The telephone also has audio function where you can heard ringing tones as well as actual narrations of the numbers when you press on the number keys. And when you turn the animal flap section, you can also hear the names of the animals as well as the sounds that these animals make.

The funny thing is that Racia is really scared of the cat featured on one of the animal flaps on the phone. In fact, when she saw the picture of the cat for the first time last night, she cried. And this morning, when she flipped the flaps and ended up on the page showing the cat, she cried again! Actually, mummy thinks that the cat is quite scary looking too, cos its really dark, with long wiskers and has errie blue eyes!

Daddy suggested covering the cat but Mummy is not keen as she wants Racia to confront her fears. :P

Description: Thomas & Friends AquaDoodle
Date: 14 March 08 - Friday

Mummy got Racia a Thomas Train Aquadoodle through the overseas BP thread. The set finally arrived after a waiting period of about 3 weeks. This evening, daddy sent mummy down to Tanjong Katong Complex to pick it up.

Mummy and daddy were very amazed with this AquaDoodle set. Thomas the train really do follow the track drawn by mummy using the special train track roller pen. Infact, Thomas also moved when mummy draw a single line using the special water pen provided.

This AquaDoodle set allows you to draw and doodle on the mat using their special pen and rollers which you will need to fill with water. As all the doodling and drawing is done using these water pens and markers, there is no mess. Once the water marks/design dries, you get a fresh white surface to start doodling again. This allows you to draw and doddle over and over again many times. The mat measures 81cm by 81cm and it features a huge area for drawing and doodling.

Daddy thinks that Racia is still too young for this item. Daddy is going to show Racia Thomas tomorrow, hopefully she will not be frightened by the loud tooting sound and music from Thomas the Train!

Mummy has been wanting to get another thicker sleeping bag for Racia as the weather has been really crazy and cold lately. Grobag 1 to 1.5 tog bags were out as there were a little too expensive. While shopping at the Taka Baby Fair today, mummy chanced upon this really thick and comfy sleeping bag by LeElephant in a really sweet pink gingham design. The price was a steal too at $16.90. Mummy estimates the bag at about 1 tog.

Milestone: Standing without Support
Date: 09 March 2008 - Sunday
Racia is 1 year and 5 days old today

Mummy discovered that Racia can stand unassisted for quite a while today.

At Kindermusik this morning, Mummy placed Racia at the entrance of the classroom thinking that Racia will sit down and crawl towards the bags of balls.
However, Racia just stood there, knees lock and refused to sit. Mummy removed her hold on Racia and she found that Racia could stand very steadily on her own.

Mummy thinks that Racia might be ready to start walking soon.

Milestone: Self Feeding
Date: 06 March 2008 - Thursday
Racia is 1 year and 2 days old today

Mummy discovered that Racia want to self feed today.

While Mummy was hand feeding Racia cheerios this morning, Mummy found Racia reaching for the cheerios in the bowl. When she picked one up, Racia attempted to put it in her mouth.

This is the first time that Mummy has seen Racia attempting to self feed(with food). Mummy could see that Racia was having difficulty directing the food into her mouth. As a result, the cheerios falls off her fingers as she could not correctly position and push her fingers(gripping the cheerios) into her open mouth.

After a few attempts, Racia managed to grasp the technique and was eventually successful in pushing the cheerios straight into her open mouth.

Encourage by Racia's keen interest to self feed today, Mummy hopes to give Racia some fresh vegetable sticks to self feed next.

Milestone: Racia's Schedule at 1 Years Old
Date: 05 March 2008 - Wednesday
Racia is 1 year and 1 day old today

Since 2 weeks ago, Mummy has been having difficulty letting Racia nap in the morning and evening period. Often, when these two nap times near, Racia shows no sign of tiredness and she will always struggle and cry when Mummy attempts to let her sleep. Mummy found out and read that as baby turns 1, they will start to cut down on their day naps and the total hours of sleep during the day will be reduced greatly. With this new information, Mummy has been letting Racia drop her morning and evening naps beginning from this week. Unless Racia seems over tired at these times, Racia is allowed to continue to play without napping. Racia now takes only 1 long nap in the afternoon at 1pm.

Racia's Daily Schedule now that she has turned 1:
7:00am - Wake up
7:30am - First Milk Feed
10:00am - Milk Feed(Half Amount)
11:30am - Bath Time
12 noon - Lunch
1:00pm to 3:00pm - Afternoon Nap
5:00pm - Dinner
8:00pm - Bath time and bed time routine + Story
8:45pm - Last Milk Feed
9:00pm - ZZZ

Mummy is still trying to introduce Breakfast to Racia to replace her 10am milk feed.

Milestone: Climbing down from Bed/Sofa
Date: 05 March 2008 - Wednesday
Racia is 1 year and 1 day old today

Since Racia's fall earlier this week, Mummy was determined to teach Racia the proper way to get down from the bed. Mummy has been diligently teaching Racia the correct way to get down from the bed since Monday.

To safely get down, Racia need to turn her body around when is near the edge of the bed, her legs needs to come down first with hands holding on to support and to prevent falling. And when her feet touches the ground, she can push herself down to stand on the ground. Sounds complicated right?

Finally today, when mummy put Racia on the sofa, Racia actually move to the edge and attempted to get down sofa in this "legs first" safe method. Mummy was so proud of Racia when she got down safely without falling. And Racia was amazed that she was able to get down safely this way too.

Mummy is so proud that Racia managed to master this technique so quickly.

A Birthday Message from Mummy,

Dear Racia,

My Baby, you are 1 today.
This past year has been an important phase in my life. We welcomed you into this world exactly a year ago at 5.42am in the morning, I gained a new baby and became a new mum.

Both of us have grown so much this year, you from a helpless little infant to now, mummy darling toddler who show so much emotions especially your likes and dislike. You have taught me so much this past year, how to be a better and more tolerant person and most important of all, how to be a good mummy. Through you, I learned how important family is.

Mummy looks forward to the many wonderful and joyous years that we will be spending ahead.
May you always be happy and healthy.

Racia's Birth Diary:
Mummy started to experience intense Braxton Hicks and mild contractions on 27/02 to 03/03.

03 March 2007
9:15am - Gynae visit at 40 weeks. Mummy lost weight and Dr Chong suggested for Mummy to be induced.
4:25pm - Arrival and checked in at Mt Alvernia Hospital.
4:37pm - Brought to normal ward. Nurses takes BP and temperature and asked about drug allergy.
5:00pm - CTG monitor shows heartbeat and contractions.
5:25pm - Contractions peak at 127 four times.
5:45pm - Already 1cm dilated, Pessary tablet inserted.
6:00pm - Contractions close to 3 mins apart.
6:15pm - Midwife check for dilation - 1cm.
6:30pm - Mummy complained of urge to pass motion. Was transferred to Labour Ward immediately.
6:45pm - Labour Ward Room 2 - Strapped on CTG.
7:30pm - Mummy complained that she was hungry, dinner was served.
7:51pm - Contraction at 121.
8:00pm - Taken off CTG, Mummy was encouraged to walk to speed dilation.
8:50pm - Check by Dr Chong - 3cm dilation.
9:45pm - Epidural administered ~ Mummy had on the laughing gas when needle was inserted
9:57pm - Dr Chong broke Mummy's water bag, a warm gush of water flowed out.
10:30pm - Nurse checked, amniotic fluid clear.

4 March 2007
1:35am - 5 cm dilation, Epidural refilled, temp at 37.2.
3:35am - Baby showing signs of slight distress, oxygen administered. 7 cm dilation.
4:05am - 8 cm dilation.
4:15am - Syntocinon(Oxytoxin) administered.
4:43am - Almost fully dialated.
5:15pm - Started pushing.
5:42am - Baby Racia borned after 4 pushes- Natural assisted by Vacuum.

Milestone: First Fall from the Bed
Date: 03 March 2008 - Monday
Racia is 11 months, 4 weeks old today

At around 8am this morning, Racia "finally" fell off the bed. Mummy had a terrible scare when it happened!

Actually it was all mummy's fault. Daddy had left for work and before leaving, he had woken mummy up instructing Mummy to watch over for Racia.
Racia has woken up and was sitting besides mummy on the bed playing with her toys. Mummy dozed off and the next moment, they was a loud thud, Mummy jumped up from bed and found Racia lying face down, flat on all fours on the floor! Mummy nearly had an heart attack when she saw Racia in that position. Racia didn't move at all till mummy picked her up, Mummy saw that her face was all red, she was in shocked and was holding her breath. The next moment, she let out a really loud cry! She was crying so badly and hard, the fall must have been really frightening and must have hurt terribly. Mummy could see 2 bruise spots on Racia's forehead.

Mummy thought that she has been very careful all this while. After hearing all the frightening babies fall stories from Mummy's March Forum friends, she was really careful to ensure that Racia was supervised at all time when she played on the bed and that there isn't any opportunity for her to fall off the bed. Mummy was really careless today which is why Racia fell.

Mummy's poor baby now has 2 bruises on her forehead for her birthday tomorrow!

Milestone: First Birthday Party
Date: 01 March 2008 - Saturday
Racia is 11 months, 3 weeks and 7 days old today

Racia celebrated her 1st Birthday today! A Pink Hello Kitty Themed Party!

It was a small party held at home with only family and close friends invited for the celebration.
Mummy catered the food from YLS Catering (their mini buffet range), made Chut Bee Peng (traditional Hokkien Glutinous Rice) and dessert (Logan + Handmade Hello Kitty Almond Jellies), and Racia's 1st Birthday Cake was from Pine Garden.
Mummy also ordered 30 helium fill balloons from this wholesale party shop at Concourse(10 each of Metallic Pink, Silver and Yellow) and prepared 4 special Hello Kitty Foil balloons(the biggest was this 18inch super shape Hello Kitty Foil) which she took to pump at this party shop at Serangoon Gardens the night before for the party.
Racia's party favors were packed in special Hello Kitty Loot Bags which mummy found.
