Milestone: First Fruit - Steamed Apples
Date: 31 August 2007 - Friday
Racia is 5 Months and 4 weeks old today 
Racia seemed to have developed some rash on her tummy and Mummy suspects that the rash is caused by the carrots that mummy gave Racia the past two days?
Because of the rash, mummy has decided to stop giving Racia carrots and let Racia try steam apples instead.
Mummy steamed 2 apples today, pureered them and packed them into a total of 6 bags to be frozen and stored for consumption later. While packing the apples, Mummy took a portion out (2 teaspoon) and fed Racia the apples. Surprisingly, Racia loves the apples, she not only ate them up eagerly, she never push any of the apple pureered out of her mouth. Racia even managed to finished the entire 2 teaspoon of apple pureered that Mummy gave her.
This is the first time that Racia has shown so much interest in her food since mummy started her on solid last sunday. Mummy is glad that Racia is finally enjoying solid food. And mummy now knows that Racia loves APPLES! and also that she might be allergic to Carrots :(
Mummy is thinking that maybe Racia can try some Bananas next.

Milestone: First Vegetable - Carrots
Sleepy Baby
Milestone: Falling Asleep on her Own + New Sleeping Position
Date: 30 August 2007 - Thursday
Racia is 5 Months and 3 weeks old 6 days old today
1) Falling Asleep on her Own:
For the past 3 nights, Racia has been able to fall asleep all by herself without any patting, rocking or carrying.
Mummy used to have to carry, pat and rock Racia lightly to make her fall asleep before placing Racia on her bed almost every night. It is only on a few occasion that Racia can fall alseep without any rocking.
However, the past 3 nights (in a row), Racia was able to fall asleep on her own when mummy place her on the bed after her nightly cleaning/changing routine.
Once on the bed, Racia will talk and toss around for about 10 mins before getting into her new favourite sleeping position and will fall alseep soon after that.
Mummy is really pleased and she thinks that Racia is now a big girl who can fall asleep on her own.
2) New Sleeping Position:
For the past few nights, mummy found that Racia has a new favourite sleeping position - That is to sleep lying on her right side.
With stronger neck and back muscles, Racia can really toss and turn when she sleeps each night. However, she will always choose to settle and sleep lying on her right side.
Sitting up High!
Milestone: First High Chair Experience
Date: 25 August 2007 - Saturday
Racia is 5 Months and 3 weeks old today
Racia sat on a proper baby high chair today when Mummy and Daddy met Gong Gong, Por Por, Da Jiu, Jiu Ma and Cousin Kai Kai for dinner at the Teochew Resturant at Keypoint today.
Racia sat in the high chair all by herself unsupported for a total of 20minutes before she started fussing!
Now that Racia can sit in a high chair, it will be a lot easier when Mummy and Daddy brings Racia out for dinner.
My First Food!
Milestone: Introduction to Solid Food
Date: 25 August 2007 - Saturday
Racia is 5 Months and 3 weeks old today
As Racia was a total breastfed baby, Doctors and friends advised mummy to only start Racia on solid food when Racia turns 6 months old. The main reason for this delay is to reduce the possibily of food allergy arising when Racia starts on solid food.
With so many signs showing that Racia is now ready for solid food, Mummy decides that today is the day Racia is going to have her first taste of solid food.
Some signs that shows Racia is ready for solid food includes:
1) Racia is now double her birth weight
(Birth weight of 3.155kg and now 6.5kg).
2) Racia can sit unassisted on her own.
3) Racia loves drinking water from the spoon.
4) Racia looks intensely whenever Mummy and Daddy eats.
The first food selected is Heinz rice cereal watered down with Mummy's breast milk.
Armed with a new plastic bib, Racia's Hello Kitty baby feeding bowl, the pigeon solid food spoon and camera, Mummy and Daddy got Racia ready to start tasting her first solid food.
Racia was very excited and without hesitating, she opened her mouth when Mummy place the spoon with the cereal near her mouth. Racia's expression upon tasting the cereal was really funny, she actually frown and made a funny face. This made Mummy and Daddy wonder if the rice cereal tasted really bad?!
At the end of this first solid feeding session, Mummy and Daddy found more cereal on Racis's chin and on her bib rather than in her tummy!
Next food to try - maybe some steam carrot and potatoes before moving on to porridge?
I Love to Flip!
Milestone: Flipping on her Own
Date: 24 August 2007 - Saturday
Racia is 5 Months and 2 weeks and 6 days old today
For the longest time, Racia was just contented to lie lazily whenever mummy puts her on the bed. Even with assistant, Racia will reluctantly attempt to flip only once and then lie back on her back with no further inclination to flip anymore. In the last 3 months, mummy had only seen Racia flip on her own a total of 3 times!! Mummy had almost gaven up on training Racia to flip on her own!
Yesterday, when mummy lie Racia on the bed, Racia surprised mummy by flipping onto her tummy instantly. Mummy was not even paying attention as she thought Racia was just playing with her toes! When mummy turn Racia to her back, she surprised mummy again by flipping instantly back onto her tummy. Infact, Racia could not stop flipping today whenever she was put on the bed.
Its so true that each baby developes at ther own pace and when they are ready to flip, nothing and no one can stop them!
Mummy is so proud of Racia today!
Steady Baby
Milestone: Sitting Unassisted
Date: 22 August 2007 - Wednesday
Racia is 5 Months and 2 weeks and 3 days old today 
This week, by chance, mummy found that Racia can sit on her own unassisted and unsuported for quite a while.
Surprisingly, Racia was quite steady when put on the sitting position. Mummy can see that Racia enjoys this new sitting position a lot.
Mummy thinks that this is definitely a sign that Racia is now ready for her first solid food.
Sitting today and maybe crawling tomorrow?
Sleeping Alone!
Date: 21 August 2007 - Tuesday
Racia is 5 Months and 2weeks 2 days old today
Since Racia was 1 week old, she has been sleeping with Mummy and Daddy on the queen size bed. The main reason for this arrangement is to make it easier for Mummy to feed Racia when she wakes up for her night feed. Infact Racia has only slept in her baby cot on the first day she came home from the hosiptal.
Now that Racia is 5 months old, her night feed has reduced significantly. This made Mummy and Daddy decide that now is the time to move Racia back to her own baby cot. Mummy wants to train Racia to sleep in her cot on her own as soon as possible so that Racia will not get too used to sleeping with Mummy and Daddy and as a result, rejects her cot or sleeping on her own!
Mummy and Daddy finally moved Racia back to sleep on her own cot today. Mummy experienced seperation anxiety when she tuck Racia in her cot. It was not easy for Racia too as she woke up a few times crying. Mummy had to pat and carry her and continued to place her back to sleep on her own cot. Mummy and Daddy also could not help waking up a few times throughout the night to check on her.
Mummy hope that today marks the day Racia can finally sleep in her bed on her own.
Yummy Spoon!
Milestone: Biting spoon
Racia is 5 Months and 1 week old today
Racia learnt to bite her pigeon soup spoon today when mummy was feeding her some water. She even managed to bite and hold the spoon in her mouth all by herself.
Mummy was wondering if this is another sign that Racia is now ready for solid food.
Mummy I want Bao Bao!
Milestone: Opening Arms and leaning towards Mummy wanting to be Carried
Date: 13 August 2007 - Friday
Racia is 5 Months and 6 days old today
Nai Nai was carrying Racia today and mummy went up with arms open and asked Racia if she wants mummy to carry. Racia surprised mummy by leaning her whole body towards mummy with open arms!
How can mummy refused Racia when she shows that she recognises mummy and wants mummy to bao bao!
Let me Hold the Spoon!
Milestone: Grabbing spoon and moving spoon into mouth
Date: 2 August 2007
Racia is 4 Months, 3 weeks and 5 days old
Racia amazed mummy today when mummy fed her water. Using her right hand, Racia grabbed the spoon in mummy's hands and guided it into her mouth. Mummy was there holding the spoon to assist her throughout so that Racia does not push the spoon too far into her mouth.
Does this mean that Racia will be a right hander?
Mummy thinks that very soon, Racia will be able to eat on her own.
